In 2006, federal statistics show that the number one killer of teenagers are vehicle accidents.  To help parents, Gateway developed a real-time vehicle tracking service that allow montoring of their child's driving.

Gateway offers a couple of hardware options: a GPS vehicle tracking device that permanently installs into the the family's car or a portable locator device that can be carried or placed in the glove compartment.  Note: just like a cell phone, the portable device needs to be recharged about every three days.  

To view the teen's location or historical route, a parent securely logs onto a web site using an Internet browser on any computer with an Internet connection.  There are no installations or downloads to worry about. 

The tracking device simply updates its location every 5 minutes when the vehicle’s engine is on and once every hour when the engine is off just to report that the system is still working.   In the case of the carry device, the tracking device updates every 3 minutes when in motion.
