Gateway has incorporated Garmin's Fleet Management (FMI2) in to its web tracking service so dispatchers can manage scheduled jobs using a Garmin's nüvi 205 Personal Navigation Device (PND). This allows the PND to act as a mobile data terminal (MDT) while still proving mapping directions to the driver.
Using Garmin's nuvi navigation screen and Gateway's web tracking service allows a company to create, assign and manage drivers' jobs.
The Fleet Management Interface (FMI) allows a dispatcher to perform the following task:
- Manage specific vehicle information - Manage specific drivers assigned to specific vehicles - Communicate with a specific driver by sending/Receiving text messages that might not be releated to a specific Job - Manage Job orders
> Create, modify and delete Jobs > Assign multiple Jobs to specific drivers > Determine a Jobs status: Pending, Assigned, In-route, On-duty, Completed and Deleted > Request ETA of a driver In-route to an assigned Job > Receive automatic notification of a driver arriving at an assigned Job > Send/Receive text messages or CAN message regarding a specific Job > Select Alerts such a Job's status has be pending to long or a driver has been a Job to long
The FMI allows the driver to perform the following task:
- Drivers can set their status: On-duty, Off-duty, At lunch, Not available, Need assistance - Drivers can Read, Accept and Delete Job's in their Inbox - When a Job is accepted, the PND automatically determines the best route to the Job's location - Communicate with the dispatcher by sending/Receiving text messages that might not be releated to a specific Job - Drivers can find other points-of-interests such as gas stations and hospitals - Drivers can enter in their own destination address to be routed
